IG Group, one of the heavyweights within electronic trading, has recently announced that it has hired one Max Hayden to serve a new role within the company. The position, Global Head of Institutional Sales, was created in a bid to bolster the company’s institutional business. This, in turn, serves as a facet of a broader strategic investment to boost growth within the company.

Right Man For The Job

Hayden is very much qualified for this position, having over 30 years’ experience within the field of prime brokerage. Recently, he has spent two years within ITI Capital. ITI Capital is a brokerage owned via private equity and covered both Retail and Institutional clients regarding global market execution. Hayden had served as a CEO within this company.

Before ITI Capital, Hayden served within the Russia-based specialist broker, BCS Global Markets. For three years, Hayden served as the company’s Managing Director and holding responsibility for the Prime Brokerage development within the company.

Before even this, he spent the majority of his career within the Bank of America Merrill Lynch. There, he was mostly responsible for the International Prime Brokerage product. Needless to say, the man should know a thing or two when it comes to institutional sales.

Plans For Higher Growth

With his new appointment, Hayden will be based within IG’s London offices. He will answer directly to the IG Bank SA’s CEO, Fouad Bajjali. Bajjali serves as the head of IG’s institutional business.

An important note to make about this decision is an announcement that happened about seven months ago. Back in May of 2019, the CEO of the IG Group, June Felix, made an announcement. This announcement was in regards to six strategic choices the company had made. These choices will be a baseline for how the Group will operate and deliver value in the future, vowing to provide the best trading experience for its clients. With these six choices, the IG Group has established four growth levers to reach it. Some of these levers include things like expanding distribution channels, segmenting target markets, and providing multi-product offerings.

Hundreds Of Droplets To Make A Bucket

The institutional offerings of IG serve as a facet of the company’s Significant opportunities portfolio. This portfolio serves as part of the overall strategy of the company in building a sustainable, diversified business model. With this in thought, IG is currently targeting the home offices and hedge funds that hold less than $200 million in Assets Under Management. With all of them combined, it serves a potential market opportunity of about £500 million for the institutional business of IG.
